thankful in san diego..

i have been enjoying the fall.. tremendously.. it is by far my favorite part of this year so far.. it is so crisp, dazzling and bright.. the ocean appears to have glitter sprinkled in it, the sky is SO blue..
i am so blessed to live here.. i am filled above my eyeballs with gratitude.. for so much.
i am loving everyone expressing thanks this month, it being thanksgiving, people make a point to look at the positive and wonderful things in their lives, people seem to have a skip in their step.. is that why? because we are focusing on the wonderful things?
 the 30 days of thanks game is all over the social media airwaves and i love it.
it is just so nice to hear everyone so happy.
i shot this photo last night..
right at sunset.
driving home from taking makena to soccer practice, i decided to run home, grab my camera and quickly drive down to the beach..
something was in the air and i had to snap it..
guess it's all that gratitude..

a proud mom moment

it's funny how you don't realize how much your kids really watch what you do.. it is great and all.. {sometimes not so much}
 but this was a moment that i stopped and smiled..
we went grocery shopping and as makena was helping me put the groceries away.. she got out the scissors and snipped the plastic hansen's soda rings.. i always do this little "tiny, makes me feel like i am doing something good" gesture..
{if the rings get into the ocean, dolphins nose's, birds and sea life can get trapped in the rings}
and i am sure she has asked me why.. i don't remember the conversation but she does..
love that.

photo shoot with some foodies

so i LOVE cookbooks.. i love food photography, i love the bright colors of a farmers market and i love a bowl of lemons sitting on my kitchen table.. so this photo shoot was a dream.. i had the pleasure of taking photos for juli novotry who is the founder of kookie karma and puremamas. she contacted me to do some product shots and some photos of her in her kitchen for both of her businesses.. we broke out t a rainbow of organic produce.. i shot her chopping up beets {my fav}, saw first hand how they package all these goodies, i got to do some tasting {yum}, and of course we did head shots too! how could you not? aren't they gorgeous?! you can find kookie karma in whole foods, at seaside market and jimbo's to name a few or order from their website. their kale chips are pretty amazing {fyi}.. look for her photo taken by {me!} up pretty soon in whole foods under local vendors. so feast your eyes on this amazing duo and their gorgeous photo shoot!! thanks juli and tim for trusting me with this fabulous shoot. i was honored to be a part of it!

stop

last night i had a photo shoot at the beach and as the sun was setting i had one of those moments of ahhh.. i love it here in san diego..
just one of those moments of exhaling and taking it all in..

my life is pretty crazy and non stop..
but last night.
i actually stopped.
i listened to the crashing of the waves, watched the seagulls gliding above, gazed at the paddleboard surfers on the horizon, smiled at the giant orange sun dipping into the vast ocean..
it is just heavenly..
i. love. the. ocean.
all it takes is a moment to stop and breathe.
i did and it was great.
:)
thank you ocean.

day 21 {paper} and day 22 {hippy chow}

day 22 {hippy chow}
that is what we call it.. we ate it in hawaii years ago and has been a staple ever since..
brown rice..onion, carrot, zucchini, bell pepper sauteed with teriyaki sauce and a fried egg on top..
so good.

{paper}

a dear friend of mine is expecting her 3rd little boy..
i made her about 25 of these paper airplanes out of new york city maps..
her and her hubby lived there before starting a family years ago...
i thought they were cute for baby jude and meaningful for the couple...

my yogi

she made up her own yoga pose..
she calls it the apple tree pose..
you start here...
then fall to the floor like an apple would fall from the tree..

like here..
she had her first yoga class at the ymca and decided to "strike a pose" for the class..
all the kids loved it and soon there were apples falling everywhere..
i wonder if it will catch on?
