They brought me a "Thank You" Sprinkles cupcake.. 

Sweets go far with me my friends.. very, very far.

It was red velvet too.. Booo-nus!

 I will be shooting their wedding in La Jolla next year and I am beyond honored..

i am so in love with this ring shot.. i invested in a new lens and it makes me really happy when i can get a shot like this.. details are SO important and they need be fabulous.. don't you think?

it is always so bittersweet when i wrap up a wedding.. i am so happy to present the wedding photos and the bride is so excited to get her photos in her hands.. i get a bit attached to these fabulous brides.. we go back and forth for about a year and they make me smile so much! once this baby goes in the mail..

i have been so neglectful of my poor blog.. i have been editing weddings every chance, moment or second i can.. so blogging is the last thing i do.. i am almost done with this GORGEOUS wedding, the bride is STILL on her honeymoon in Bali so i am waiting patiently for her to return home.. maybe not so patiently.. but. i am almost done and i will share very soon.. have a lovely weekend friends..

hi hi hi!!! i have had a whirlwind of a few weeks! my goodness.. kids are back in school and i am trying {keyword:trying} to get into a routine... i have not done a favorites post in awhile and i totally miss blogging but... it is the first thing to go when life gets crazy!!

lake tahoe..

our last summer family trip was to lake tahoe.. we camped for 6 nights and had an absolute BLAST.. it was so gorgeous.. the water was a chilly 57 degress but we swam like fish and it was bliss..

this cutting board i also just bought on etsy.. it is a perfect gift and a great conversation piece for your fancy cheese party.. and that adorable heart you can have engraved anywhere.. i had mine engraved to san diego of course..

 i came across on pinterest.. oh my goodness it is the perfect gift for anyone at all.. ever and for any occasion but especially a gift to a bride on her wedding day from her sweet bridesmaid, mom.. etc etc.... she will be forever greatful.. i am sure of it.

 

wine club

hubby and i just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary.. we ran away to the glorious town of santa barbara and it was so wonderful.. so so so wonderful.. i can go on and on and ON.. one day we went to los olivios an amazing town in the gorgeous san ynez valley with 43 wineries and we tasted and tasted.. it was amazing.. we decided to join a wine club to always celebrate our trip and we chose carhartt winery because it is a small family owned winery with that small intimate feel.. the wine was so delicious and we smiled a lot while there tasting.. i can't wait to get our first shipment..

and finally my favorite gift ever.. besides my children, my wedding rings, and my first dslr camera that started up my obsession with photography.. hubby surprised me with a pair of stunning black diamond earrings.. i was so shocked and giddy.. they are so precious and mean so much to me i can't begin to tell you.. how cool are black diamonds? waaaaayyy cooler that i am.. way cooler.

First Day of School 2012

here we are.. this morning all ready to go.. chloe off to kindergarten and makena to third grade...

last night we read "the kissing hand" and "the night before kindergarten", layed out our outfits and chatted about our nerves and excitement.. this morning i made scrambled eggs, packed up lunches and off we went.. chloe strutted right in and i had to chase her for a kiss.. makena was quiet and nervous.. i cried like a baby and came home to my quiet house to sit, edit and blog this moment.. it is so crazy how quick it goes.. i savor every second.. i really do.. but. it still flies by.. it is going to be a wonderful year in so many ways.. i can feel it.. and it feels great! 

ps- can we talk about chloe's shoes? sooooo not her style but she HAD to, i mean HAD to have them..

I am so honored!! San Diego Exquisite Weddings Magazine featured Kalista and Kyle's engagement session! I was camping in Lake Tahoe when I got the email!!! From my iphone, i emailed the magazine editor, bride and then tweeted! Isn't technology fabulous!!? We had a lovely week and our trip was perfect.. that was a cherry on top! Here is the feature

summer family photos.. and signing off for summer.

 makena had her birthday and it was amazing! we went to dinner with some of her friends and did a movie at the pool.. then. ended it with a slumber party!

 i made her this cake .. i dyed white frosting a lighter blue and used fruit roll ups for seaweed, swedish fish for fish and ground up graham crackers for sand.. we had the shells lying around in art boxes..

i am obsessed with succulents and cactus these days.. maybe because i feel that i have  a green thumb but it is really by default.. they are ridiculously hard to kill.. i grouped these 3 together and put a big jar over the top.. i love it. mostly the pink cactus..

 i have been making these little pizzas and i can't stop... drop an egg on top and cook it in the oven.. it is heavenly.. oh and avocado on your pizza? it is divine..

that is ricotta cheese, tomato and pizza sauce too..

i use trader joes flatbread for the crust.. it's perfect.

minor details tho.. the goods are that egg and avo.. man. it is so good!

 this photo was a morning and the girls were sleeping in extra late.. so i grabbed my coffee and swayed in the hammock and this morning light was smiling at me..

we went to jazz in the park with friends and it was so fun.. the kids dances and played.. we ate and drank.. it was such a fun summer night..

running away with a friend for dinner and great girl talk is a great highlight this summer too.. i really have some amazing girlfriends and i feel so blessed..

painting our toes is a big event around here.. we have quite the collection and it's quite pretty to just look at huh?

we were at the museum and they asked chloe to answer some questions for a film.. she was really shy and so cute..

and. i won! don't know how but i won.. $64 in one race! "snackable" was good to me

another fab beach day.. that is my hubby and chloe.. so sweet.

so as summer comes to an end.. we are headed to lake tahoe for a week of camping! i am so excited to unplug.. to float the days away in the lake and to play scrabble by campfire at night..
