one thing..

about 10 years ago.. i woke up in my sweathearts arms.. i told him i love him so much.. we had talked about getting married eventually.. but we were young and money for buying the ring was of course, an issue.. i remember this one particular morning, i said i didn't care about the ring.. buy me a silver band and let's do this! :) we had a fun day planned this day.. we were going to the getty museum.. i was excited he was showing interest in a museum.. i mean, it was not his "cup of tea" to be perfectly honest.. we hiked through the large grounds.. admiring the beautiful views, breathtaking art and gigantic buildings.. he sort of rushed me through some exhibits and i started getting a bit annoyed.. i mean.. you can't come to a museum to just rush through the lovely art.. we had just moved from san diego to los angeles so damian could go to film school at ucla and see if it was a career worth trying.. this was our first day "out on the town".. we climbed these stairs that went for days into the sky it seemed.. we got to the very top with a spectacular view..and i'll never forget.. as he hugged me from behind his heart pounded like crazy.. he says to me.." look at this view.. it is like our life.. the ocean representing san diego, our past {little did we know we would be hightailing it back to san diego aka paradise just a year later}..and our future which is la and the city.. he turned me around and said i just love you so much.. 

but. 

{whhhaaatt.. a but?} there is one thing i would change if i could.. {whhhat?}..

 he got down on one knee and said "your last name.." 

he pulls out my beautiful diamond ring from his pocket and asked me to marry him..

it was sooo amazing and i love to think back to that day and the story.. i was so so so shocked and so giddy!! i had no idea my sweet guy was shoving cash under our mattress forever to save for my ring.

so that is how my sweetheart asked me nearly 10 years ago..

to be his wife..

 so.. he did change that one thing.. my last name..

and there has not been any other requests..

hermes cuff.

so this weekend we were all in the car going for a little drive along the coast..

adele is playing on the radio and girls are coloring in the backseat..

{a rare and quiet moment}

we drive past this street in encinitas called hermes..

i turn to damian and say..

"it would be so cool to live on hermes.. i would pronounce it "hermes"

{i say it in my frenchest of french accent}.. 

not HERM-E-ssss.."

he in turn says to me " ya.. then there is this street cuff, we could live on hermes cuff"..

we start cracking up..

i turned and look at him..

in his black ny yankee hat.. a total guys guy.. but who drives a prius, uses reuseable grocery bags but who also plays golf, drinks scotch and reads yahoo finance..

who ALSO.

understands that there IS such a thing as a hermes cuff..

he. is. perfect.

i mean really? hermes cuff?

how dang sweet is that?

underneath my shaded raybans i just gazed at him while he drove..

it was just one of those perfect moments..

it has been a whirl wind of just STUFF.

i am so blessed and excited that sequins and candy is keeping me busy.

BUT.

i am having a hard time balancing my everyday.

i have had the amazing opportunity to shoot a couple weddings with a fellow local photog and it has given me great, great experience for my 2 weddings quickly approaching..
i am sooo happy about these..SO happy...

BUT.

if you could see my house?

my laundry?

my floors?

the toys, barbies and food i find everywhere.

oh. my. goodness.

my house is a disaster.

i am so thankful for my wonderful supportive husband.

he is the calm in my craze.

thank goodeness he doesn't expect dinner on the table and slippers at the door when he comes home..

it's more like why is the tv on and nobody is anywhere to be found..

oh. they are up the street and is anybody going to eat this string cheese and apple i just found on the couch?

i love his hands because they have high fived me when things are awesome.. they have wiped tears from my face when they are not..

i love his hands because they slipped that ring on my finger when he asked me to marry him..

i love his hands because they drive him to work everyday where he works SO hard to provide a pretty swell life for us girls..

i love his hands because they have dialed my phone number many times..
even while i left for europe years ago and stayed for 6 months longer than i expected..

and still today.. just to say hi..

i love his hands because they color beautiful pictures with our daughters..

i love his hands because they are good at tennis, golf, basketball and even pouring a cocktail..

i love his hands because nothing feels better than when he simply places them on my knee while driving..

i love his hands because they are his.

the love of my life turned 35 this weekend!

the girls were dying to get him a bike.
we did.
chloe blew it and gave it away.
makena was sooo upset she let the cat out of the bag.
we did the usual breakfast in bed and spoiled him rotten.
it was a fun day as you can see..

father's day

father's day weekend was amazing..

how beautiful was the weather?

seriously..

kinda not fair to be honest..

mother's day weekend was gloomy mc' gloomerson..

i'm just sayin'..

ahh-hmm.

anyway..

we started off the weekend with a sunset hike around the lagoon..

we went to a fairy festival and then to have smores at the campgrounds with our best friends..

and on father's day we went to the beach

and of course the day was allll about food..

breakfast in bed with coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, bacon, fried eggs and toast..

lunch was caprese sandwiches on the beach..

dinner was carne asada tacos..

 big stick popsicles and an evening bike ride topped it all off..

it was a well deserved beautiful day

for my most fabulous hubby..

 and wonderful daddy to our precious girls..

thank you for asking me to be your wife..
